Surgical Site Infection Connection
We had a great FALL MEET on November 10, 2007. It was a combined Educational and Business Meeting held at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, Kentucky with 48 people attending.
In the morning we had a Continential Breakfast and lecture with CEU offerings. Surgical Site Infection Connection Protection for You and Your Patient and The Clinical and Financial Impact of MRSA. This excellent talk was given by Jennifer Lamb-Wolf, Clinical Nurse Consultant with Molnlycke Health Care. Among other things it covered hand washing and areas that are often missed as well as the effectiveness of gloves and the need for double gloving on many cases.
We had a short business meeting and agreed to persue having the State Legislature to pass a resolution for Registered Nurses as Circulators on all Surgical Cases.
The next stop was Historic Churchill Downs with lunch on Millionaire"s Row and an afternoon of food and fun at the horse races. We even had some grand winners amoug our nurses who attended. This all came to an end with the final races about 6:00pm for those who wanted to stay that long.
We hope to hold another FALL MEET in 2008 and possibly return to Churchill Downs at that time. Let us hear what you think. Email Sandra at ssmith1@BHSI.com.
