ICORN Member Update
Dear ICORN Members,
As your past ICORN chair, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for all the support I received these past two years. I am sure that you will give the same support to our newly elected chair, Annemarie Herlehy. She is a great asset to our organization and is very motivated to be of service to you.
Our IDPH Partnership Project has been progressing towards fruition. Dr. Eric Whitaker, Director of Public Health, sent a very positive response to my letter regarding a partnership with IDPH. Dr. Whitaker would like to meet with ICORN representatives to discuss our potential roles in this project.
As the initiator of this project, I will continue as its chairperson and will see to it that we reach our goals:
• To improve regulatory compliance
• To inform the public of our role in promoting patient safety
• To enhance Illinois’ existing reputation as an innovator and leader in public health issues
I am depending on voluntary representatives to make this project a success. I will keep in touch by regularly posting a progress report on this website: www.aorn.net/illinois. Please discuss this report at your chapter meetings.
We are tentatively scheduling a meeting for the end of April. This timing will avoid conflicts with AORN Congress 2005 and will hopefully enable Bill Duffy and Kate O’Toole to join us.
