Community Project-Keiki Hats

Keiki Hat Instructions

I misplaced the original my aunt sent to me, but the one I found on the internet is basically the same, just a little bigger.
1. Create a template by cutting out a paper circle 18" in diameter.
2. Cut an 18" circle of fabric by laying the template on the fold line of the fabric
3. Press under approximately 1/2 inch all around the edge; stitch close to the edge to create a pocket for the elastic. Leave a 1/2" opening at the end.
4. Using a blunt thread passer or blunt darning needle, thread an 18" length of 1/8" elastic through the pocket and overlap the ends.
5. Stitch ends of elastic together.
6. If you only left a 1/2" opening, it really isn't necessary to stitch it closed, so you're all finished.

I've started making some more caps from the fabric that was donated at Sam Choy's.
If anyone would like some of this to make some caps, they can give me a call.

Thanks,
Ruth
