Welcome
Capitol California (Updated 5/17/2009)

Hello Colleagues,

At our last Chapter Meeting, May 17, we were treated to an insightful presentation by speakers Dr. Gary S. Leiserowitz and Kathy Monthgomery who discussed Minimally Invasive Uterine Cancer Surgery: The Surgeon and Patient Perspective, featuring the da Vinci robot-assisted surgical technology.  Dr. Leiserowitz discussed the amazing capabilities of da Vinci assisted surgery, and Kathy presented the experience from the patient's perspective.    See Photo Page.  Full minutes of the meeting will be available shortly.

AORN 56th annual Congress was  held in Chicago on March 14-19, with the theme: "Embracing the Future."  There were over  10,700 registrants including health care professionals and exhibitors.  The week was fun-filled, informative and exhausting.  As a first time attendee I found the meeting to be empowering and invigorating.  Along with fellow delegates Renee Welch, Elaine Humberd, and Gail Randall, I was proud to represent our chapter at the Congress and I was honored to be sitting with my fellow nursing colleagues from across the nation and from around the world.  We said goodbye to the outgoing president Susan K. Banschbach, and welcomed in the new president, Patrick Voight who shared the theme for the 2010 Congress in Denver, "Reaching the peak of peri-operative practice."
