COURSE DESCRIPTION: This continuing education program is designed for all Perioperative personnel. This interactive program will explore potential hazards that may be encountered by the patient undergoing an operative procedure, practices and processes that prevent injury as well as barriers to implementing safe practices. Case studies that describe common errors made by intraoperative team members will be used to highlight the enormous responsibility for patient safety shared by all physicians and staff and to illustrate the consequences of even the smallest lapses in best practice.

Directions to Eden Medical Center, 20103 Lake Chabot Road, Castro Valley

From Oakland: Take 580 East. Follow the signs to "Hayward/Stockton." Exit at Strobridge Ave. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left onto Strobridge. Go to the stoplight. Turn right onto Castro Valley Blvd. At the first stoplight (Lake Chabot Road), turn left. Turn left at the first stoplight on Lake Chabot Road for Eden's entrance. Stay over to the left for the conference center.

From Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, Dublin: Take 680 North or South to the 680/580 interchange. Take 580 West to Castro Valley. Exit at Strobridge Ave. to the right. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right. At the stoplight, turn right onto Castro Valley Blvd. At the first stoplight (Lake Chabot Road), turn left. Turn left at the first stoplight on Lake Chabot Road for Eden's entrance. Stay over to the left for the conference center.

From Berkeley, Oakland, Montclair: Take Highway 13 (via Ashby Ave. in Berkeley) south until it merges with 580 East. Follow the directions above.
