Monthly Chapter Meeting
Eden Medical Center, Conference Room September 10, 2008
PROGRAM: “Principles of Electrosurgery” by Diane Ghidossi & Keith Pollasky, Territory Managers, Covidien/Valley Lab.
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 1903 by Past President Evelyn Steen.
MINUTES: The minutes of the June 4, 2008 meeting were read by committee and approved.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: A closing balance of $4,204.86 as of September 10, 2008 was reported by Donna Benotti.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
POINTS: Donna Rodgers reports that point record forms have been received from Marla Gonzales, Joy Chau, Evelyn Steen, and Donna Rodgers.
WAYS & MEANS: Donna Benotti has the holiday greens packets available for each facility representative. All orders and payments will be due at the November chapter meeting. The chapter will be selling wreaths, garlands, and centerpiece kits. Orders are expected to be delivered during the first week in December. Donna Rodgers will once again be receiving the orders where they can be picked up from her home in Fremont.
NEW BUSINESS: Marla Gonzales reported that the speaker the chapter had in mind for a proposed workshop on November 8th is not available. Instead, we will have a chapter meeting on November 5, 2008, and Kathie Shea will speak on tourniquet safety. Kathie will arrange to have a Stryker representative speak at the meeting as well.
An educational workshop was proposed for February 7, 2009. The program would be on the topic of sterilization of instruments. Steris, ASP (Advanced Sterilization Products), and 3M representative will be contacted by Kathie Shea to possibly speak on steam sterilization, Sterrad, biological monitoring, record keeping, and Cidex use. The workshop time would be from 8am to 12noon and would take place at either Washington or Eden Hospital, depending on facility availability. Flyers for the workshop will be emailed to all members.
A business meeting will follow the workshop in place of a separate chapter meeting in February. The remaining chapter meetings will take place on April 1, 2009 and June 3, 2009 which will be a dinner meeting.
Kathie Shea has sent to National our revised bylaws, and they have been received. Another revision to our chapter bylaws will be made after Congress. This revision will be in regards to statement that the AORN Journal is the official journal of AORN.
Marla Gonzales will be attending the next ORNCC meeting on October 4, 2008 in Southern California. Marla will seek information in regards to the chapter’s dues notice for ORNCC.
OLD BUSINESS: None.
