Monthly Chapter Meeting

PROGRAM: “Antimicrobials: The Right Active Ingredient for the Right Application” by Ellen Anderson Manz, RN, BSN, 3M Technical Service Specialist.

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 1911 by President Evelyn Steen.

MINUTES: The minutes of the March 5, 2008 meeting were read by committee and approved.

FINANCIAL STATEMENT: A tentative closing balance of $7,846.86 as of April 20, 2008 was reported by Ann Ceasri. However, a full financial statement will be deferred until the next meeting.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: Marla Gonzales gave a report on the highlights of the ORNCC meeting she attended on May 3, 2008. Her report will be posted on the chapter’s website.

NEW BUSINESS: Evelyn reported at Congress the new affiliation that AORN will have with American Nurses Association.

Kathie Shea presented the proposed changes to the AORN of Alameda County Chapter Bylaws. The proposed amendments are needed so that the wording of the chapter bylaws is consistent with those of the national bylaws which were amended at Congress last month. Members present were given a copy of the proposed amendments to review before voting takes place during the June chapter meeting.

OLD BUSINESS: A ballot with a slate of candidates to serve office next year was not prepared. Joy Chau has offered to remain secretary for another term. Donna Rodgers has agreed to remain on the Board of Directors for another term. Candidates for President, President-elect and Vice President are still needed.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: A free continuing education seminar sponsored by 3M will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2008 in Berkeley. Flyers are available at the back table.

The next chapter meeting will be a dinner meeting on June 4, 2008. The location is to be announced.

ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 1943 by President Evelyn Steen.
