PHOENIX AND THE VALLEY CHAPTER AORN
BOARD MEETING

APRIL 8TH, 2008
CALL TO ORDER: Bonnie Ingram, President, called the meeting to order at 1725. Present: Terri Aldama, Beverly Sanders, Jacqueline Craig, Maggie McGee, Bonnie Warner, Cathy Coughlin, Joy Crouse, Deb Cheshire.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Terri reported the Wells Fargo account balance as of March 21, 2008 was $5,774.01. The American Funds account as of March 21, 2008 was $10,939.11.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: The March Board minutes were voted on and accepted as written.
LEGISLATIVE: Terri discussed the progress of Bill #1237(Surgical Technicians’ Licensure). Terri would like to oppose this bill through AZSCORN.
COMMUNICATION: The newly elected Treasurer for AZSCORN, is Terri Aldama. Our chapter paid dues for 2007, while we were at Congress. We will pay 2008 in July, 2008. For the budget year 2008, we will budget for the AZSCORN dues for both July 2008 and March 2009.
The Arizona State Council Luncheon for Congress, will be organized by AZCORN each year.
The Education Committee for AZCORN, will be having a planning meeting for the fall conference. The meeting will be the week of April 13th.
Bonnie Ingram will set up our Holiday Dinner at the Embassy Suites, for our December 2008 meeting.
Maggie McGee is looking at alternatives for the Installation Dinner on June 13th. Black Angus is not available on this date.
The Leadership Conference is on July 25th-27th in Denver.
The House of Delegates voted down to appoint 3 members to the National Nominating Committee.
The new National Board Members are as follows: President Elect: Patrick Voight, Vice President: Anne Marie Herlehy, Secretary: Deborah Spratt, Nominating: Callie Craig, Donna Ford, Kevin Metzing, Board: Rosemarie Schroeder, Rose Seavey and David Wyatt. Remember, any AORN member can go on line and nominate candidates for the 2009 National AORN Board.
Beverly Sanders is going to have her Joint Board Meeting on Saturday, July 19th.
The following positions are available for the 2008-2009 Board for the Phoenix and the Valley chapter: President Elect, Vice President, Board members x2, Secretary, and Nominating Chair.
Cathy Coughlin announced that the Educational Awards will not be as many as in the past. Many of our previous supporters have restrictions on what they can currently contribute, if at all.
Congress hotels for 2009 in Chicago, will fill up fast. Reservations open on July 11th, 2008.
At the end of our Board meeting, Claire Everson reviewed and answered questions about AORN members having affiliate membership to ANA, effective July 1st, 2008.
MEMBERSHIP: We had 25 members at tonight’s meeting and 6 guests.
